Digital Ark: St. Florence, Wales: Test Page original

Welcome to this digital Ark             Work-In-Progress started: 2026-Aug

Noah's Ark was intended to protect animals from impending doom.

This web site is intended to protect (and share) pictures, memories and anecdotes about St. Florence from the doom of being forgotten.

This is work in progress I am not a web programmer, so forgive the style.
I do not want this to be about me, but about St. Florence. Consider contributing!

No, do NOT consider contributing. Do it!

I am not a historian, not even at the hobby/amateur level. I am just a old man looking back on his life, that started in St. Florence in 1955, and on his childhood spent there.

I like to think that where I was born gives me a proud little boast.
I was born in the Ark. No, no not Noah's Ark, but a house in St. Florence, Pembrokeshire.
And not at around 2300 BCE, but 1955 CE.

In my childhood and youth (1955 till about 1970) St. Florence was a very small village .
Its population in the mid 1950's was about 300, but by 1970 it grew to about 500. Partially I think due to the oil refineries on the River Cleddau and the power station at Pembroke.

I enjoyed my childhood, I enjoyed St. Florence.

So I decided to write this document in honour of that happy childhood and the place where it happened.

That time when:

I do not want to include content about St. Florence after the mid 1970's. I leave that honour to somebody else!
